Changing your Cypress password

Click on the following link. https://ntpassword.doit.wisc.edu

Scroll down the page so you can see these 5 data entry boxes.

In the domain box, type in:
ad.cypress.wisc.edu

In the User Name box, type in:
The user ID that has been assigned to you.

In the Old Password box, type in:
The password that was assigned to you.

In the New Password box, type in:
What you want your new password to be.
Please pay attention to the information on the page about the UW-Madison Password Policy.

Retype your New Password in the second box.
This is to make sure that you spelled things correctly.

After you have filled in all the boxes, click on the “Change Password” button.

You will get a confirmation page stating that your password has changed.

Note: You may use your new password immediately however your old password will continue to work until the domain servers’ synch up. After the synching, your old password will no longer work.

Password Policy

The UW-Madison campus has a formal Password Policy that requires you to create NetID and other passwords using the following criteria.

Passwords must:

  • Be a minimum of eight (8) characters in length
  • Be memorized; if a password is written down it must be secure
  • Contain at least one (1) character from three (3) of the following categories: Uppercase letter (A-Z) Lowercase letter (a-z) Digit (0-9) Special character (~`!@#$%^&*()+=_-{}[]\|:;”’?/<>,.)
  • Be private.
  • Passwords chosen must not: Contain a common proper name, login ID, email address, initials, first, middle or last name. Have been used in the last year or last three passwords, whichever is greater.

You may use your new password immediately however your old password will continue to work until the domain servers’ synch up. After the synching, your old password will no longer work.
